IDAHO FALLS, ID --Lorin Russell Fogg (known as "Russ"), 98, died November 21, 2007, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born August 21, 1909 in Salem, Idaho, the son of Merrilla Judy and Charles Henry Fogg. When he was eleven years old, he and his older sister cleared 40 acres of sagebrush to plant as a dry farm. At age 12 the family moved to Nampa, Idaho. There he worked in a soda fountain and candy store. After graduating from high school he spent three years at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho. He moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where he obtained a B.S. degree in pharmacy. During school hours he worked 40 hours a week, supporting himself and putting himself through college.

After he graduated as a pharmacist, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia May Rose, June 15, 1934. While living in Pocatello they had two sons, Gary and Reed.

He and a partner bought a drugstore in Pocatello and one in Idaho Falls. At the start of World War II there was a shortage of pharmacists so he moved to Idaho Falls to manage that store. Their third son, Marc, was born in Idaho Falls. Several years after opening Fogg Drug, he bought the store across the street, Walgreen's Drug. He also opened the HyWay Drug store. He later owned stores in Pocatello and Provo, Utah. He was a good businessman and many sought his advice. He planned for the future and was able to help his sons go on missions, and graduate from pharmacy or medical schools. He has been a true example of diligence and working hard to succeed.

His wife, Virginia, died 17 January 1958 after a long illness. He married Neta Browning Howe in September of 1959. Neta and Russ traveled extensively. After 34 years of marriage, Neta died in May of 1993. At age 85, he married Virginia Borg September 24, 1994. They continued to travel to Arizona in the winters.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of 35 years. He was active in civic affairs and was concerned about the vitality of the Idaho Falls downtown area. He was elected to the Idaho State Legislature in 1952, and spent a total of ten years in office. He served as the Republican Caucus Chairman during his last terms. Russell was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has had many callings and leadership positions including serving in the bishopric and as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He is survived by his present wife, Virginia (Idaho Falls); three sons, Gary (Cheryl) of Bountiful, Utah; Reed (Wendy) of Salt Lake City, and Marc (Emily) of Idaho Falls. As direct descendants he has 17 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He also has many step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, Virginia Rose and Neta; his brothers, Adrien, William and Clyde; sisters Elva and Sylvia; and a grandchild, Gregory.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS Home Ranch Ward, 3195 South Holmes Avenue, with Bishop Terry L. Orme officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
