Architect, Artist. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a member of the prominent McLaughlin family. Considered as Cincinnati's premier Victorian architect from 1857 to 1912, he designed several notable buildings in the Cincinnnati area including Shillito's, McAlpin's, and the Cincinnati Art Museum. McLaughlin was trained in his craft by James W. Keyes. He died in New York City in 1923 when he was 88 years old. His sister, Mary Louis McLaughlin, was an influential ceramic painting artist.
