Mrs. Ella J. Nethery, 93, Rockford, died at 2:05 a.m. Friday May 30, in her home after a one-month illness.
Mrs. Nethery, the mother of 8 living children, also is survived by 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
She was born Jun 15, 1866, in Shullsburg, Wis., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Glendinning, and moved to Rockford 32 years ago from Shullsburg. She was married to John Nethery on Nov. 17, 1887, in Shullsburg. She was a member of the Centenary Methodist church there.
Surviving daughters and sons, Mrs. Edna Thomas, Shullsburg; Irene Nethery, Rockford; Harry Robert, also of Rockford; and Ray, Glen, Vern and Russell, all of Darlington.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, in Centenary Methodist church, Shullsburg, with burial in Evergreen cemetery. The body was rested at the Julian-Poorman funeral home in Rockford and the Thompson funeral home in Shullsburg. The Methodist church in Rockford assisted by Rev. Cecil DeGramo of the Shullsburg church officiated at the services.
Pallbeares were her six sons, Ray, Harry, Robert, Russell, Glen and Vern.
Flower girls were Shirley B. Nethery, Shirley Nethery, Eunice Doyle, Winifred Swanson, Phylis Christen, Betty Nethery, Carol Howe and Joyce Lee.
