ABSHIRE, Gene A. LCAP 4/16/1998
Sulphur -- Funeral services for Gene Allen Abshire, 52, will be at
10 a.m. Friday, April 17, in Hixson Funeral Home.
The Revs. Nay Vickers, B.D. Powell and C.B. Chance will officiate.
Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-10 p.m. today, and from 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Mr. Abshire died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in Lake Charles.
A native of Lake Charles, he lived most of his life in the Sulphur area.
He was a member of Choupique Baptist Church where he was a
deacon and Sunday school teacher. He graduated in 1964 from
Sulphur High School where he lettered in track. He graduated from
McNeese State University in 1969 with a B.S. in mechanical
engineering. He attended the University of Michigan Engi-neering
Summer Conference in 1970. He was employed by Fire-stone Tire and
Rubber Co. from 1971-1981 and was senior engineer. He had been
employed by Petrocon Engineering of Louisi-ana since 1981, where he
was manager of engineering. He was located in the Montel Plant.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Ruth Broussard Abshire of Carlyss;
two sons, Damon Boyd and Donny Wade Abshire, both of Carlyss;
one daughter, Robbi Renee Abshire of Carlyss; three brothers, Jimmie
Wayne Abshire of Moss Bluff, Leroy John "Ned" Abshire of Carlyss
and Michael Douglas Abshire of Sulphur; five sisters, Brenda Faye
Schultz, Ruby Ann O'Neal and Roberta Marie LeDoux, all of Sulphur,
Dianna Rose Smith of Moss Bluff and Marilyn Faye George of Carlyss;
his mother, Jennie Abshire of Sulphur; and three grandchildren.
