Dorothy Lorene Anderson, 79, of Granbury, formerly of Temple, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at a Granbury nursing center.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Western Hills Church of Christ, with Minister Scott Meyer officiating. Interment: Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
Mrs. Anderson was born in the Elijah community near Killeen (now the Fort Hood Reservation), the daughter of James Madison Manning and Annie Lou Sandlin Manning.
She married Herman R. Anderson on Dec. 23, 1955, in Temple; he preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1987.
She graduated from Abilene Christian University with a B.S. in education. She retired after more than 26 years with the Temple Independent School District, also having taught in Starr, Killeen and Granbury. She was a longtime member of Western Hills Church of Christ, as well as Scott & White Hospital Auxiliary. She was the memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society-Bell County Unit and was a member of the Love of Christ Center.
Survivors: Sons, Brad S. Anderson and his wife, Sue, of Granbury and Barry G. Anderson of Austin; sister, Nelda Jeske of Stephenville; granddaughters, Stephanie Spurrier of Austin and Laura and husband, Brad Lee, of Bendbrook; great-grandchild, Carter Lee of Benbrook; and brother and sister-in-law, Tilmon and Cindy Kirby of Temple.
