RINGLING -- Services for Myrtle Lee Abshire, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Jesus Christ Gospel Tabernacle in Ringling with the Rev. Jimmy Morris and grandson Phillip Coy Abshire officiating. Interment will be in Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Ringling.
Born May 7, 1915, to the late Charley and Tiny (Horn) Evans in Atlee, she died March 12, 2005, in Healdton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Abshire, on May 16, 1974.

She was also preceded in death by both parents; a daughter-in-law, Lawanda Faye Abshire; three sisters, Sis Underwood, Ida Richardson and Ruby Hall; and four brothers, Oscar, David, Eddie and Fred Evans. A lifelong resident of the Ringling area, the former Myrtle Lee Evans was united in marriage to Coy Abshire on Sept. 24, 1934 in Ringling and to this union was born four sons and one daughter. Myrtle had worked at the 70 Cafe and the Pit in Ringling, but had been employed by Healdton Hospital the longest period of time. She was a long-time member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Ringling.

Survivors include her children, Oliver Cleo and wife, Nancy Abshire, Lucerne Valley, Calif., Billy Ray Abshire, Camp Fair, Mo., Coy Leroy and wife, Marjorie Abshire, Ringling, Jerry Dewayne and wife, Charlene Abshire, Ringling and Tammy Jean Martin and friend, Henry Norton, Ringling; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Annie Carroll, Marietta and Rosa Freeman, Healdton.

Pall bearers will be Jerry Jordan, Nicholas Kane Abshire, Billy Ray Abshire Jr., Mickey Abshire, Cody Abshire, Nicholas Ray Abshire, Steven Camplain and Jerry Embrick.

Honorary bearers are Aaron Underwood, Marion Richardson, Leonard Evans, Toss McMillen, Charles Cain and Stanley Hudson.
