William H. and Dollie Colwell moved their family from east Texas to a farm three mile north and one mile east of Mountain View, OK in about 1905.
There were six children: Carrie, Peter, Fannie, Cleopas, Flettie, and William Otre "Bill". They all attended school at Oakdale and some then went to Mountain View school. The eldest son, Peter died in 1908 at age of 16.
Farming consisted of growing corn, alfalfa hay and raising hogs. William Harland Colwell died in 1915 leaving Dollie and the family to manage the farming.
Each of the children.as they were married, continued farming in the area. Carrie. with her husband, Boss Sterling. moved to west Texas, but the others remained nearby. Fannie married Harrison Richardson. They farmed north of Mountain View on Spring Creek for many years. Cleopas, known in the community as T. C. or "Cle • and his wife,Tyva, discontinued farming the Colwell home place in 1924. They bought one acre of that place and built a house and garage where T. C. did automotive and farm machinery repair. He built the Colwell Service Station acrosss the road from the garage on one acre purchased from the Stinsons in 1930. This business continued until Cleopas died in 1965 leaving his son, Quintus. who was a part-owner, to do the automotive repair. Quintus retired in 1990. closing the business,
Flettie married Toba J. Holsted, and they farmed near Carnegie for many years before moving to Mountain View. W. O. "Bill" Colwell married Bessie Sanders. They farmed the home place until it was sold in 1966.

W. H. and Dollie were active members of the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church which was 3 miles East of their farm.
