George W Austin died at the home of his grandson Will Austin Kent Ohio May 4th 1915 aged 106 years and 6 months. Cause of death: old age and broken hip.
Interment made May 7th 1915 on lot No 144 first grave east part of cemetery.

Kent, O, May 5 - George Austin, reputed to be Ohio's oldest citizen, died at his home here last night. He had nearly reached his one-hundred-and-seventh year. He was born October 8, 1808, in Hartford, Conn. His great-ancestor, Andrew Austin, was one of the passengers on the Mayflower. Austin's wife died February 12, 1872, and their only son, Julius M Austin, died twenty years later. Two grandchildren survive, W E Austin, of Kent, and Mrs William Pilgrim, of Hartville, Ohio.
