Mrs. Leona Evans passed away at her home Thursday night, May 12, 1949, after a short illness.
Eva Leona Starry, daughter of Nicholas H. and Sara Jean Starry, was born in Marshfield, Ind., February 26, 1869. She came to Miami county with her pioneer parents in 1871 at the age of two years and settled on the homestead where her death occurred.
She gave her heart to the Christ she loved so much in the Christian church at Louisburg and was baptized on an Easter Sunday when she was seventeen years of age; she remained steadfast and faithful until her death.
She was extremely gentle and kind in nature, home loving, with utmost devotion to her family, always thinking of them before self and she will be sadly missed in the home, church and by the many who loved her.
On February 23, 1921, she was united in marriage to Thomas C. Evans, who preceded her in death three years ago on June 26, 1946.
She is survived by two sister, Effie Starry, who was her constant companion in life, and Alta E. Ring, a number of nices and nephews, who loved her devotedly, and a host of friends. A sister, Maude Wise, two brothers, Dr. Clark Starry and Beverly C. Starry, preceded her in death.

Guy, pastor of the Osawatomie Christian church officiated and Mrs. and Mrs. Clifford Raines sang the hymns, "Rock of Ages," "Sweet By and Bye," and "Asleep in Jesus." accompanied by Mrs. Herbert Martin.
