Last Rites Held At Burr Oak For Ambrose Emery
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) from the Fjelstul funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and at 2:30 from the Burr Oak Methodist church for Ambrose Emery, 87. Winneshiek county pioneer who died Sunday evening Feb. 2 at 9:15 o'clock at the Decorah Hospital. He had been seriously ill for five weeks and was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
The Rev. Thomas H. Smith pastor of the Burr Oak Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in the Burr Oak cemetery.
Mr. Emery a son of George and Diantha McIntire Emery and was born in Bluffton township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, Dec. 22 1853, and had been a continuous resident of Winneshiek County and Decorah since his birth.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Addie Kinney Price in Decorah in Dec. 1900, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Sanderson of Decorah and Mrs. Geo. Lusson of Miami, Fla., two step-daughters, Mrs. Pete Eggen and Mrs. Valma Marey of Crosby, N.D. and one step-son, Stanley Price.
There are also 15 grandchildren surviving and three brothers and four sisters. They are George and Aaron Emery of Burr Oak, Omry Emery, Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Eunice Delay of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Lizzie Groat, Mrs. John Olson, Mrs. Tilda Donlon and Mrs. Emery Nelson all of Burr Oak.
