EDENTON - Mr. William W. Adams Sr., 85, of the 1000 block of N. Broad St., died Thursday, July 17, 1997, in Chowan Hospital. A native of Bertie County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late John and Mittie Phelps Adams and the husband of Sybil Chappell Adams. He was a retired dispatcher with the Edenton Police Department, a member of the Edenton United Methodist Church and a 32nd-degree Mason.
Surviving other than his wife is his daughter, Barbara A. Davis of Suffolk; two sons, William W. ''Bill'' Adams Jr. of Newport News and Lloyd V. Adams of Wilson, N.C.; brother, Walter M. Adams of Edenton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Beaver Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Rex Brooks. The family will receive friends in Evans Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
