NEW OXFORD Myrna C. McKonley, 90, formerly of McSherrystown, en tered into God's eternal care Friday, July 18, 2008, at the home of her son, Elwood. She was the wife of Ellwood J. McKonley, Sr., who died November 15, 2003. Born August 31, 1917, in Mt. Misery, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Clara (Ackerman) Smith. Mrs. McKonley was retired from the former Sylvania Shoe Company in McSherrystown. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown and a life member of the McSherrystown Moose. Surviving are one son, Elwood J. McKonley, Jr. and wife, Henrietta of New Oxford; one daughter, Suzette E. Groft and husband, Eugene of New Oxford; nine grandchildren, Dawn Smith, Shirley Trostle, Vonita Shank, Suzette Tosten, Kathy Weaver, Cindy Shaffer, Gena Eckert, Eugene Groft, and Erika Garvick; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. McKonley; a daughter, Shirley E. McKonley; and by a great-grandson, Tristin Tosten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Annunciation Church, 26 N. Third St., McSherrystown, with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel officiating. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends and relatives will be received Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with a prayer service held at 8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Eugene Groft, Corey Trostle, Kevin Shank, Randy Tosten, Mike Weaver, Scott Garvick, and Shane Shaffer.
