John Drake killed near Elko, Nev.
John C. Drake, 23, was killed in an auto-truck accident Thursday evening on U.S. 40 three miles east of Elko, Nevada.
Services are pending at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sam M. Drake, 208 East Olive avenue.
He had been working in the Elko area for the past several months. He was a resident of Redlands for five months.
He was hitchhiking and was picked up. When the car started back onto the highway, it was struck by a large semi-truck. Drake was killed but the driver and the other passenger were not, according to the Nevada State Patrol.

Deceased is survived by his parents, Mrs. Lucy Sittler, Redlands, Kenneth Drake, Alliance, Ohio. Grandmother Mrs. Carmela Scipioni, Fontana, and three brothers and two sisters, Sammy Drake, Redlands; Denis Drake, Alliance; Kenneth Drake Jr., Redlands; Miss Mary Drake, Alliance ; and Miss Diana Drake, Redlands.
Ecumenical Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmerson-Bartletr Memorial chapel, Redlands, Monsignor Henry W. Keane, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic church, officiating. Interment in Hillside Memorial Park, Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Redlands, in charge.
