Former Jasper man dies at Rochester
Walter Clausen, 65, Clearwater, Fla., a former Jasper resident, died Thursday, November 14, at a Rochester hospital. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 17, from Foster Funeral Chapel, Jasper, with the Rev. Michael Lutz officiating. Burial was in the Jasper City Cemetery.

Services Held For Walter Clausen
Funeral services were held for Walter H. Clausen 65, on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 17, 1974, at the Foster Funeral Chapel in Jasper. Rev. Michael Lutz officiated at the service. Mrs. Gordon Baden was the organist.
Pallbearers were Donavan Claussen, Eugene Claussen, Edward Baden, Alfred Baden, Carl Johnson and Howard Nielson. Final resting place was in the Jasper City Cemetery.
Walter H. Clausen was born June 6, 1909 at Jasper, Minn. to George and Anna Clausen. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He spent his early years in the Jasper area and graduated from Jasper High School. Walter received his B. A. Degree in Physics and Mathematics from St. Olaf College, graduating cum laude. He taught school at Volin and Tyndal, S.D. and Montevideo, Minn. Walter worked for Honeywell, Inc. from Dec. 1952 until his retirement June, 1974. He was a member of Florida State Advisory committee for post high school education for 16 years. He was also a member of government management efficiency and study commission.
Walter died on November 14, 1974 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Clearwater, Florida; two daughters, Patricia Bonner and Mrs. Alix (Mary Jane) Paez, both of Des Moines, Iowa; one son James R. of Minneapolis, Minn.; one step-son, Gary Westofer of Crystal River, Florida, and 10 grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Sophus of Ihlen and Maurice of Jasper; three sisters, Mrs. Dan (Alma) Lunzman of St. Paul, Mrs. Chris (Doris) Larsen and Mrs. Bert (Olga) Ulberg, both of Sioux Falls, S. D. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
