Married Muriel Elaine Davis on May 22, 1943, at Cookeville, Putnam County, TN. Only child of Claude Jefferson Roberts and Lula Elaine Prescott who are buried beside him. He was born at same old home place as his father and grandmother on Kermit Road in Amite County. The house still stands and the property is still in my family. Daughters Sylvia Lynn Roberts Mangum, Vivian Elaine Roberts Duncan and Jean Lucile Roberts Creamer. Veteran of World War II. Worked for many years at Cabell Electric Company and later at Tri-State Electronics. Loved cars and tinkering with TVs and radios. Worked as a youth at Smith Radio Shop on West Capitol Street (close to intersection with Gallatin Street). He met his future wife, Muriel, in front of this shop when she was walking home from school with a friend of hers who knew him. Also enjoyed riding motorcycles and belonged to the Magnolia State Riding Club. He loved animals and had many throughout his life, chihuahuas more than any other. My father was the finest man I have ever known. He always did the right thing and taught his children by his fine example. There hasn't been a day to go by that I haven't thought about him since he died. I talk to my son about his grandfather. I wish he could have known him because I see so much of my father in him. He has the same silent but strong demeanor as my dad. I have tried to raise him with the same principles my parents raised me with. Don't lie, cheat or steal and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I, the youngest of his three children, have strived to be what I was raised to be. I try to be the positive role model for my child that my parents were for me. I hope that my child will look up to me the same way I do my parents. In my eyes, they were perfect, without sin.
