William A. Brumbaugh
Cottonwood Falls-Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral home here for William Augustus Brumbaugh, 88, Cottonwood Falls. He died Thursday, Aug. 16, at a Cottonwood Falls nursing home.
Mr. Brumbaugh was a farmer and stockman. He lived in Chase County for 49 years and since 1945 had lived in Emporia.
He was born July 31, 1896, at Enid, Oklahoma Territory, the son of Jacob Elmer and Blanche McCormick Brumbaugh. He spent most of his life in Chase County.
Mr. Brumbaugh was a former member of Homestead Friends Church and later a member at Cottonwood Falls Friends Church.
He was married to Myrtle Merritt Oct. 1, 1917, at Emporia. She died in 1979. A son, Kenneth Brumbaugh, died in 1967 and a daughter, Betty Brumbaugh, died in 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Brumbaugh and Jake Brumbaugh, both of Wichita, and Chuck Brumbaugh, Omaha, Neb.; four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Mullins in California, Mrs. Cora Lee Burington, Florence, Mrs. Grace Robinson, Gridley, and Mrs. Esther Carie, Emporia; eight grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Homestead Cemetery southeast of Cottonwood Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.ritt Oct. 1, 1917
