Fred L. Kauffman dies in California
Fred L. Kauffman, 85, of Arcadia, Cal., former Des Moines grocer, died of a heart attack after an illness of ten days.
Born in Des Moines, Mr. Kauffman lived here for 84 years before moving to Arcadia a year ago after the death of his wife. He was a grocer here for 50 years, retiring in 1938. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 31 at Dunn's Funeral home with burial at Woodland Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. L. N. Ross of Arcadia, Mrs. J. L. Finnicum of Needles, Cal., and Mrs. Gurdon Parker of Des Moines; two brothers, Walter of Springville, Cal. and Harry of Redwood City, Cal; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
