The daughter of JOHN & ANN BAKER, she was baptized on Feb. 15, 1624 in Surrey, England. She married MATTHEW GILBERT who became Dep. Gov. of the Colony of New Haven and was one of the seven pillars of the government and a deacon of the First Church of Christ in New Haven. He served as Justice of the Peace in New Haven and married many, many couples there. Matthew & Jane lived on the southwest corner of the New Haven Green.
Their known children were John Gilbert, Sarah (Gilbert) Todd, Rebecca Gilbert, Mary (Gilbert) Augur, Hannah (Gilbert) Parker, my ancestor -- MATTHEW GILBERT, JR., and Samuel Gilbert.
