md Henrietta Anderson 8 Nov 1876 in Birmingham, IA

"The obit contains an error in his birth year which per the 1860 and 1900 census records as well as his tombstone records his birth as being in 1851. When calulating the birth and death dates given it does not add up to the age given but would not be 1861."

…Jacob Dempsy Ebert was born August 28, 1861, and passed away to his heavenly home, February 4th, 1918, from his late residence at 509 North D street, Fairfield, Iowa, aged 67 years, 5 months and 3 days.
…He was united in marriage to Henrietta Anderson, November 8, 1876, in Birmingham, Iowa. To this union were born ten children, seven sons and three daughters.
…Mr. Ebert resided in Birmingham the most of his life, five years ago moving to Fairfield, which has since been his home. He was converted to God in the year 1891, and the same year united with the Free Methodist church. He was a consistent Christian and died in the faith.
…Those who mourn his loss are his beloved wife, Emery of Omaha, Neb., Dwight and Clarence of Davenport, Iowa; Vernon, serving his country somewhere in France; John in training at Mare Island, Cal; Rollin at home. A son Pearl preceded him in death 26 years ago at the age of 14 years; Mrs. Cash Maw of Mackey, Idaho; Mrs. L. H. Danley, Ft. Madison, Iowa; Mrs. H. O. Brownlie, Long Grove. Iowa. Also four sisters nd one brother: Mrs. Scott Huff, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Nannie Hugus and Mary Ebert of Birmingham; Mrs. Orin Rhode, Red Oak, Oklahoma, and Alvin C. Ebert of Birmingham, besides a host of friends.
…A short service was held at the home in Fairfield on Thursday at 10 o'clock and the remains were brought to Birmingham, where the funeral service was held in the Free Methodist church at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. C. Bahner. Interment in the Cemetery east of town.
