D.H. Wooster of Java was a delegate from Wyoming County to the Genesee County Convention 9 Feb 1819 (Vol. 12 p. 79 Historical Wyoming);
According to the 1810 census, only three were living at the site of Strykersville, namely, Mr. Stryker, Daniel H. Wooster and Lemuel Castle. (Vol. 11 "Strykersville Sketches" by Harry S. Douglass,1958).
Most of the early pioneers of Sheldon came in from Canandaigua, Ontario County, as that was the last major settlement before crossing the Genesee River which, from that point on, was wilderness.
