Ronald L. Brown, age 56, died May 25, 2008, at his home.

Ron was born September 21, 1951, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Philip and Joye (Harl) Brown.

He graduated from Boone High School in 1969 and attended DMACC in Boone.

Ron served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a chef/cook and served on the USS Coronado.

He was a vice president and loan officer at a local bank in Lewistown, Illinois, and then for Diversified Financial Company. He then was co-owner of Quality Blacktop in Lewistown, which he sold in 2005, and moved back to Boone in 2006.

Ron was a member of the American Legion in Lewistown.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, family activities and gatherings, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Ron is survived by two daughters, Tanya Stone and husband Lonnie of Cuba, Illinois, and Deanna Miller and husband Philip of Lewistown, Illinois; his parents, Philip and Joye Brown of Boone; three brothers, Russell Brown and wife Lori of Cumming, Iowa, Roger Brown and wife Faye of Des Moines, and Ralph Brown of Boone; three grandchildren, Maddison Brown and Natalie Miller, both of Lewistown, Illinois and Alexis Stone of Cuba, Illinois.
