A resident of Overland, he died at a St. Louis hospital. Member of Missionary Baptist Church at Zalma and Zalma Masonic Lodge. He was chief deputy of Bollinger County from January 1937 to December 1940.

He married Dessie Abernathy July 10, 1914.

Survived by his wife; a son Warren Gaither; a daughter, Mrs. Hilda McCool; 3 sisters, Mrs. Nora James, Mrs. Cora Carr, and Mrs. Nettie Allen; a brother, John Gaither; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
