Roy Earl Greer, 51, of Amarillo died Sun, Jul 13, 2008. Services will be at 2 pm Fri in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with the Rev. Bob Thomas of Odyssey Hospice officiating.

Roy was born Aug. 27, 1956, in Hastings, NE. He moved to Amarillo in 1966, where he attended Amarillo schools ending with Caprock High. Roy was a diesel mechanic at several shops in Amarillo.

In 1976, he married Kelly Taylor, and they had their son, Chance, in 1979.

In the early '90s, Roy moved to CA to work as shop foreman at Crown Disposal Co. While in CA, he was able to pursue his passion of working pit crews for several racing teams on the NASCAR Southwest Circuit. He worked at Union 76 Tow Brothers, as well as a few other automotive shops in Amarillo.

Roy was greatly loved by his family and friends. Roy was his brothers' and sister's BIG BROTHER and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include his son, Chance Greer of Panhandle; his father, Robert Everett Greer Sr. of Amarillo; his mother, Donna Senyard of Amarillo; a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Charles Taylor of Amarillo; six brothers, William Greer, Alan Greer and wife Lori, James Greer, Robert Greer Jr., and Christopher Greer, all of Amarillo, and Clark and Teresa Greer of Burleson; his aunts and uncles, James and Rose Greer of Grand Island, NE, Dan and Linda Greer of Cave Creek, AZ, and Dick Gardner of Kansas City, MO; a special friend, Christy Appleby of IL; many cousins, nieces, nephews, g-nieces; g-nephews; and many friends.
