Jim Monk enlisted in CSA at Hillsboro, AL on May 24, 1861 in 9th AL Inf, Co "C", he was captured in Decatur May 18 1864.

Uncle Jim Alexander, one of the oldest and best known citizens in Lawrence County, recently died at home some miles south of Moulton where he had lived for 25 or 30 years. He was a well informed man and always had something interesting to talk about.
