Clarence was born and raised in Provo, attending the Lindon High school in Orem. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University. He married Anna Spotten on Aug 14, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They served a mission for the LDS Church in the Texas-Louisiana mission.
Mr. Ashton He was a Professor, and Department Chairman of Horticulture and Horticultural Specialties (and Landscape Architecture) at BYU. He was named horticulturist of the year and received many awards for his work in horticulture. He has been guest judge at many county fairs and Utah, Colorado and Arizona State Fairs. He spent 2 years in Iran where he taught at the University of Tehran.
He and his sister Leah spent many years traveling to the University of Utah for clinical research studies on their macular degenerative disease. It was his wish to have his body donated as a cadaver to University of Utah for research.
