James "Jim" S. Beasley, 71, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004. He was born Sept. 6, 1933 in El Paso, TX to Robert and Elsie Shipe Beasley.

Jim was a retired superintendent of distribution with El Paso Electric Co. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim also loved to square dance and was also a square dance caller, he also entered many Chile cook-off competitions where he won many awards starting at the local level all the way up through regional and state. Jim will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.

He was survived by his wife of 49 years Juadean of the family home; sons Jimmy Beasley and wife Martha and Joey Beasley all of Las Cruces; brother Harry Beasley and wife Ann of Phoenix, AZ; sister Margaret Zurbach and husband Steven of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren Tiffany Beasley and Dabney Koren and husband Benjamin; aunts Margaret Chambers and Martha Castle and also by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Albert.

Graveside services were held at the Masonic Cemetery with Canon Brian Hobden of St. James Episcopal Church and the Masons of Las Cruces officiating.

Jim was the grandson of George Russell Beasley and Sarah Virginia Briley.
Great-grandson of Austin Beasley, Jr. (of Duplin County, North Carolina and later Dale County, Alabama) and Eleanor Reed Powell.
Great-great-grandson of Pvt. Austin Beasley, Sr. (a Revolutionary War Soldier & large land owner), and Polly Mary Hollingsworth Carroll Beasley.
