"P" Norris, was born James Philip Norris in New Haven, Nelson Co., Kentucky to William & Teresa Norris in 1820.
James married Mary Ellen Cissel on October 7th, 1845. This union produced 8 kids, Tom (1846), William (1847), Mary (1849), Teresa (1851), Charles (1854), John (1856) & twins that died at birth (a boy & girl) in 1853.
Mary passed away in New Haven, Kentucky, June of 1857.
James married his 2nd cousin Maria Norris on October 27th, of the same year.
James and Marie had 5 kids, James (1858), Elizabeth (1859), Joseph (1861), Amanda (1863) & Sylvester (1869).
Maria died in 1869.
Moving his family westward from Kentucky to California (about 1866), James stopped in Leavenworth Co., Kansas for the winter and never left.
James moved to the Neosho Co. area to live with his oldest son Thomas Joseph Norris following the death of his 3rd wife Catherine in the late 1870's.
Descendants of James P Norris still live in Kansas today.
