Born in Lamar Co., son of John Henry Clay Sikes and Sally Elizabeth Crutchfield Sikes, he attended Hoovertown school near Deport and married Dorothy Louise Thomas May 24, 1937. She died Feb. 17, 1979. Was retired brick layer, from Brick Layers Union Local No.11 and member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Bettie Ruth Bohler and Linda Kay Miller, both of Mt. Vernon and Shirley Ann Norwood of Paris; 4 sons, Henry 'Jackie' Sikes, P. E. 'Edgar' Sikes and Howard Lee Sikes, all of Paris and Phillip Ray Sikes of Rockwall; 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Beulah Quinn of Houston, Martha Brewer of Stanton, CA., Sarah Huberty of St. Paul, MN., and Katherine Grose of Paris.
Was preceded in death by 3 brothers, P.B., John and Jack Sikes.′
