William Henry " Tex" Richards

1876 - 1926

Henry was born as William Henry Richards in 1876 to Rubin Richards and Henrietta Russell in Runnels County, Texas. They also had a daughter, Ella Lillian (1973).

Sometime before 1902 he married Dollie Cade, the daughter of Benjamin Hale Cade and Mary Lizabeth James. They had seven children: Willa J. (1903), Fannie L. (1906), Robert Joseph "Lee" (1909) and Wallina L. (1911) born in Texas and Lloyd D. (1913), Ruby M. (1916) and Henretta (1918) who were born in Oregon.

Henry's mother died in 1908, and his father married Lena Leota Mayrhoffen and they had six children.

In 1909 Henry moved his family to Oregon. In 1920 they were living in Knox Butte, Linn County, Oregon. Some time after 1920 they moved to the Buena Vista area. Here they met James Cobine and his family. Later Mr Cobine built a house in Buena Vista for them.

Henry's daughter Willa John married Charles A Cobine, son of James Cobine. In 1923 they had Henry and Dollie's first grandchild, Wallace C. "Wally". Their daughter Fannie Lora married Ronald Lee Richards and they gave Henry & Dollie another grandchild, Annabell in 1924.

Henry was real sick when they moved into the house that Mr. Cobine had built for them. It was believed that he had TB. In 1926 he died at Buena Vista, Polk County, Oregon.

Henry was known as "Tex" to all that knew him.
