Beatrice J. Karnik, age 95 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, November 09, 2012 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Beatrice Josephine Peterka was born March13, 1917 in Veseleyville, ND the daughter of the late Wences and Josephine (Burianek) Peterka. She attended school in Veseleyville and graduated high school from St. James High School in Grand Forks. Following her education she worked for Reyleck's Department Store in Grafton. Beatrice was united in marriage to Frederick A. Karnik on January 22, 1940 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Veseleyville. The couple made their home in Veseleyville until moving to Grand Forks. Fred passed away on March 14, 2004 and Beatrice moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2012.

She was an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and Altar Society and was a member of St. Luke's Rosary Society. Jesus Christ, her Catholic Faith and her family were the focus of her long, loving and rewarding life. She was known throughout the community for her famous kolache's.

Beatrice is survived by her children: Ramona (Dean) Long, Fergus Falls, MN; Fred (Kay) Karnik, Bismarck, ND; Scott Karnik, Veseleyville, ND; five grandchildren: Rochelle (Jay) Eichner, Julie (Drew) Gibson, James (Beth) Karnik, Melissa (Stryker) Scales, Jennifer Karnik and her fiance Joshua Fox; seven great grandchildren: Maxwell and Livia Karnik, Alex and Reese Eichner, Danica, Kendra and Jenna Gibson; sisters: Delores DeSautel, Grand Forks, ND; and Theresa (Phil) Marxen, Walker, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Jared Michael Karnik, great granddaughter Kirsten Beth Gibson, brothers: W.W. (Pete) Peterka, Benedict Peterka and sister Marietta Campbell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke's Catholic Church of Veseleyville.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.

Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery.
