A Mass of Christian burial for Bettie Thatcher Babb, 83, Logansport, will be held in All Saints Catholic Church. She passed away July 8, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor. Born Sept. 4, 1924, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Willard and Frankie Bell Hyman. She was married to Raymond Thatcher, who preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1984 and was married to Paul George Babb, who preceded in death May 8, 2000. For 10 years the Thatcher family managed the Logansport Monument Company. A 1943 graduate of Logansport High School, Bettie had been active in Jefferson School PTA and Scouts. She was the first woman elected to the first St. Joseph's Church Parish Council serving as secretary for four years. Bettie was a past member of the Logansport Altrusa Club, Exchangettes, Chamber of Commerce and Our Lady of the Snows study club. She had also been a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are daughter, Becky Harris (Randy), St. Charles, Illl.; sons, Timothy Thatcher, Logansport, and Patrick Thatcher (Libby), Apple Valley, Calif, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a niece and two
nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
