Dorald Jenkins Wood died early Thursday, Feb 21, 1991 en route to the Idaho Falls Temple.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb.25, at the Afton Stake Tabernacle. Burial was at the Afton Cemetery.
Doral was born on Dec. 7, 1939 in Afton an only son to Dan and Leona Wood. He spent his school years in Afton and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1958. He enjoyed participating in sports and lettered in football. At age 16, he entered the National Guard where he remained until 1966.
Dorald enrolled at Utah State University in Logan, UT in the fall of 1958. He later attended an electronic trade school in Denver. In 1960 he was called to serve a mission for the LDS Church in Finland. Upon returning he entered the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City where he received a degree in business management and higher accounting. It was here that he met and courted his sweetheart Betty June Gabbert of Pocatello, ID. They were married on Sept. 6, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple and became the proud parents of six children.
After his marriage he was employed at the Firestone Tire Company and held the position of office and credit manager for four years. After which he entered the management of Pearson Tire and Rubber Company in Salt Lake City before returning to Afton in 1974.
After working with his father for several years he became the President of Don Wood Tractor Company and held that position until his death.
Dorald gave numerous hours of service to his community through participation in various organizations. HE was a member of the Lions Club and a past president; a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and his greatest loves was serving as a certified EMT.
As an active member of the LDS Church he served in many capacities such as: Sunday School President, Elders Quorum President, teacher, and dedicated many years to the scouting program. He was also a member of the High Priest Group
He is survived by his loving wife Betty, sons, Joey currently studying in Seoul, Korea, Kyle, presently serving a mission in Riverside, CA, and Benjamin living at home; daughters Mrs. Hal (Taunalee) Raymond of Logan, UT, Mrs. Curt ( Wendi) Putnam of Afton, Bonnie living at home, and stepson Jody Wood of California; five grandchildren; his parents Dan and Leona Wood of Afton and sister Mrs. Delton ( Mary Lou) Herget of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada
