Lillian Ruth Carver, age 78, of Granite, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Great Plains Regional
Medical Center in Elk City.

Mrs. Carver was born on February 23, 1929, to Charlie and Lydia (Ward) Stump in Oklahoma City. Moving to
Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of nine, Lillian graduated from Guthrie High School and attended one year at
Oklahoma Baptist University. She next transferred to Central State University and later taught at Benedictine
Heights Catholic Convent School and College, in Guthrie, while continuing her education at the same college. In
the fall of 1949, she began a thirty-three and one-half year career at Granite School. On February 17, 1950,
she married the love of her life, Glen Carver, in Guthrie, and they spent fifty-seven wonderful years together
before her death. During the summers, she still continued her education to maintain her certificate until
graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and then a Master of Arts Degree in Music Education. Retiring from
Granite School in 1984, she continued her scrapbooking, photography, and enjoying her family and friends,
especially her grandchildren. For fifty-eight years, and even after two strokes, Lillian played the piano at the
Granite First Baptist Church and was still playing up until the time of her death.

Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband, Glen, of the home; two daughters, Sheila
Kay Green and husband Vernon of Arlington, Texas and Lisa Brooks-Smith and husband Robert of Devol,
Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Darryl Alexander (Alec) Green of Arlington, Texas, Danielle (Dani) Green of
Arlington, Texas and Kenneth James Brooks of Granite; one sister-in-law, Doris Bell of Mangum; two nieces,
Candy Gable and husband Larry of Mangum and Jamie Lisenbery and husband Charles of Gracemont,
Oklahoma along with a host of other relatives and friends and thousands of students whom she dearly loved.

Funeral services for Lillian Ruth Carver will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the Granite First
Baptist Church with Rev. Arol Steverson officiating. Interment will follow at Granite Rock Cemetery under the
direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
