NYSSA- Hazel Rosemond Dimmitt, 96, Nyssa, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in Vale. Hazel was born April 11, 1913, in Sargent, Neb., to William and Dottie Howland Mangan. She grew up in Nebraska on a farm with her family. Hazel married HOBERT BRINTLEY DIMMITT, Dec. 11, 1939. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1993. They had two sons, Roy Dale and Orland Lee. The family moved to Nyssa in 1960.
Hazel worked various jobs, Brownies Cafe, Nyssa Hospital, Ore Ida Foods and Watson's Produce, from which she retired, March 29, 1974. Hazel was a member of the New Life Christian Church in Nyssa. She enjoyed attending church, knitting, crocheting, cooking, drawing landscapes and reading her Bible daily. She was a loyal, independent, generous and loving individual.
Hazel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy Dale and Betty Dimmitt, of Coquille, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Janet Lowery; grandchildren, Shannon Harlow, Stephanie Bohn, Stacy Patrick, Derrick Stone; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hobert; brothers, Howard and James Mangan; sisters, Pansy Guyles and Otta Dieerberger; son, Orland Lee; grandson, Jerry; granddaughter, Cindy. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lienkaemper Chapel in Nyssa with interment to follow at Hilltop Cemetery, Nyssa. The family would like to thank Maria's Foster Care and Pathway Hospice.
