She had another child, Doris, with an American man she was set to marry but she later called off the engagement. She later wed Henry Lee Prestwood, an American soldier. She and her children went with him to America. They settled in Columbus, Georgia and together they had a son, Henry.
She loved to have parties, play games, was a gifted cook and baker, and a meticulous housekeeper. She was also very generous and had a delightful laugh. For as long as I had known her, she kept a pet canary.
She unfortunately took up smoking in her later years as a means to calm her nerves. She developed breast cancer and passed away 09 Nov 2005 in the home of her eldest daughter.
She is deeply missed.
