GALENA -- Richard B. Eckler, 78, of Galena, died at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, at Joplin, Mo., after a heart attack Saturday, Jan. 30.

He was born Oct. 19, 1920, at Galena, to John and Gertrude Eckler. He lived in Galena all his life.

He was a self-employed farmer.

He married Rayma O. Bailey on April 12, 1941, at Galena. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Richard Eckler, of Riverton; a daughter, Rosalee Ochsenbein, of Galena; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Melton Eckler; and a sister, Bessie Yates Brotherton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Derfelt Funeral Home, 1116 Main St., Galena.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery, at Galena, with the Rev. Jeff Martin officiating.
