The Silent Reaper.
Mr. E. Doolittle, one of the pioneer settlers of Bethany township, this county, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, after suffering intensely for many months with an attack of dropsy. Mr. Doolittle was about 70 years old. Mr. Doolittle located on a homestead in Bethany Twp. in December, 1871, and resided on the same farm continuously up to the day of his death. During the seventies he was elected a member of the board of county commissioners, in which official capacity he served the public faithfully. A widow, one daughter and three sons mourn his departure. Three of the children reside in this count—the daughter, Mrs. A. A. Eaton, and two of the sons, Edwin and James. Mr. Doolittle's remains were interred in the Fairview cemetery last Monday. His death is learned with regret by a large circle of friends.
