MRS. PERMELIA HOWLAND
Mrs. Permelia Howland of Oak Hill road, Middletown township, widow of Spencer Howland, died Sunday morning in Monmouth Memeorial hospital. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Howland was born at Preston, Connecticut, and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Callista Bentley York. She was raised and educated in Connecticut and came to this section in 1906, making her home at Long Branch. When her husband died in October, 1941, she moved to Headden's Corner to live with her son-in-law, Walter Brower.
Surviving are a son, Howard Jones of Hammonton; a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin Haubosky of Leonardo and six grandchildren, three of whom are in the service, two great-grandchildren; a brother, William York of New Bedford and six step-children, Mrs. Harold Strickland, Mrs. Peter Cunningham, Mrs. Raymond Anderson, Mrs. Henry Lefkowitz and Lester and Harry Howland.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the John W. Flock funeral home at Long Branch, with Rev. Elwood S. Wolf, pastor of the Leonardo Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery at Long Branch.
