Vance McCoy Reynolds, 92, of Valdese, N.C., passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health.

Mr. Reynolds was born on April 3, 1916 in Burke County to the late John J. Reynolds and Rosalia Hildebran Reynolds.

He was retired from Alba Waldensian Hosiery Mill as a machinist and foreman, was a member of the Cooksville Masonic Lodge No. 502 and was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Valdese. Vance was an avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter, and he loved baseball, especially watching the Atlanta Braves games.

Survivors include his daughters, Lillian Lambert and her husband, Ned, of Valdese, Dorotha Peeler and her husband, Ed, of Shelby and Hilda Vessell and her husband George of Valdese; his grandchildren, Scott Lambert and his wife, Betsy, Todd Peeler and his wife, Paula and Mike Morgan and his wife, April; his great-grandchildren, Katie and Coy Lambert, Jonathan and Abbie Peeler and Wyatt Morgan; and his sisters, Pauline Rudisill, Lena Hoyle and Josie Brittain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Eva Mae Rhoney Reynolds; his brothers, Joe Reynolds, Johnny Reynolds and Dick Reynolds; and his sisters, Beatrice R. Pons and Bonnie R. Walker.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese with the Rev. Marion Powell officiating, with music provided by Tyler Young.

Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park with Masonic Rites by the Cooksville Masonic Lodge No. 502.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturdya at Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory in Valdese.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Baptist Church Family Life Center, 704 Praley Street Valdese, NC 28690. Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
