Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
Mr. Boykin is survived by his wife, Laree Lewis Boykin of LaGrange; his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Jane and Joseph B. Hall of Merritt Island, Fla.; two sons and daughter-in-law, David Boykin of LaGrange and John Mark and Patsy Boykin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Carey Thornton of Jacksonville, Fla. and Katherine and James Harrison of Tallahassee, Fla.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Ina Boykin and John and Ernestine Boykin, all of Tallahassee, and Charles and Rebecca Boykin of Brunson, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Stephen Boykin, Brittani Boy-kin and Laura Elizabeth Hall.
Born May 31, 1923, in Troup County, Ga., Mr. Boykin was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was the son of the late William Sterling and Mrs. Annie Askew Phillips Boykin Jr., one of the pioneer families of Troup County. Mr. Boykin was a United States Marine veteran of World War II. He was a 1947 graduate of Gupton-Jones Mortuary School in Nashville, Tenn. His 50-year funeral career included Hunter-Owen Maddox and Boykin-Fling Funeral Home. He retired from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
The family will be at their home at 909 Broad St. in LaGrange.
Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home Chapel in LaGrange, Ga. is handling arrangements.
