Thomas T. Talarowski, Age 92, of Wilmington DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2008.
Thomas was born in Wilmington on May 7, 1916, son of the late Benjamin and Maggie (Gawinski) Talarowski. He served four years in the United States Army. Tom was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 44 years. Tom loved to fresh water fish and fly fish, having competed in various tournaments in his younger years. He also enjoyed weight lifting, winning many medals in the Mid-Atlantic contests. Tom was a physical fitness fanatic, running in marathons and lifting weights at the Fraims Boys Club up to the day he took ill. Tom would also meet with many friends at Banning Park where they would sit around feeding the birds and talking about the good old days.
Mr Talarowski is survived by his only surviving sister, Theresa Marioni; countless nieces and nephews; and 2 cousins, Gertrude Talarowski and Louis Meli Jr. He was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret (Talarowski) Dobek, Elizabeth "Betty" (Talarowski) Glynn, Martha (Talarowski) Grabowski, Florence "Petey" (Talarowski) Burliegh, Ann (Talarowski) Winner, Regina "Jean" (Talarowski) Barone, and Blanche (Talarowski) Hendrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Matthew Church, 901 E Newport Pike in Wilmington, on Friday morning, July 11, at 10am. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. Family and friends may call at the ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave (opposite Cathedral Cemetery), on Thursday evening, July 10, from 6-8pm.
