Harriet was born on Nov. 27, 1917 in Durango, Colo. to Thomas and Margaret Dodds. She was raised in Chama, NM, along with nine brothers and sisters. She married Clayton Parker on July 5, 1938 in Alamosa.

Harriet has been a longtime resident of Alamosa. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Throughout her life, she was active in various organizations including Eastern Star, the Alamosa Senior Center, and the Elks. She was the mother to five children and homemaker for many years. She was also known for her customer service at Montgomery Wards, and Jones Jewelers.
She was Grandma ‘P' to everyone who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and always turned the most serious of situations into a laugh.

She grew up riding the Cumbres and Toltec to Alamosa from Chama with her father who engineered the train. She had a great love for the train and had quite a collection of train memoirs. She most enjoyed family gatherings, especially the Dodds family reunions held in Chama.
