FUNERAL OF MR. GEO. NEWSOME THURSDAY
Germanton, Jan. 17--George William Newsome, died at his home near here at 12 o'clock Tuesday, after an illness of several days. Some time ago he had a slight stroke of
paralysis, followed by a severe case of pneumonia.
Mr. Newsome was the son of James G. and Rebecca Shamel Newsome and was born near Tobaccoville, in Forsyth County, 71 years ago. He was twice married,first to Miss Ellen B. Petree, and in 1893 to Mrs. Celia Spainhour Newsome, who, with thirteen children and twenty-two grandchildren survive. The chidlren are; Mrs. Charles Wall, Randleman; J.A. Newsome, of Walnut cove, and Mrs. J.N. Jones, Tobaccoville; W. Blaine and George Hobert Newsome, of Shanghai, China; Mrs. Charles Tuttle of Walnut cove; Mrs. J.A. Azmon and Mrs. Charles Tatum of Winston Salem and Durwood, Edna, Hazel, Fred and Frank Newsome of Germanton. One brother, James Albert Newsome, of McLanesville, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Petree, of Tobaccoville, and Mrs J.A. Helsabeck, of Ether, also survive.
Mr. Newsome was an upright, honest Christian gentleman and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a prominent farmer and truck grower.* The funeral will be
conducted from Corinth Christian church on Thursday at 1 pm. Rev R.A. Helsabeck will have charge of the services. The pallbearers will be the sons and sons-in-law; J.A.
Newsome, J.N.Jones, C.W. Tuttle, J.A. Azmon, C.G. Tatum and Durwood Newsome.
The flower-bearers will be the grandchildren: Maude Ellen Wall, Clare Jones, Ruth Newsome, Jones Newsome, Fred Newsome, Olive and Mozelle Newsome. The interment will follow in the church graveyard.
