Rites Set For John Devine
Former County Builder and Contractor was 81
John Devine 81, widely known in Decatur county as a builder and contractor, passed away, Saturday morning at the Henry County hospital at New Castle. His death followed a lingering illness.
Mr Devine was born in Mercer County Kentucky and was the son of William and Catherine Devine. He was the last survivor of this pioneer family.
For many years he had resided in Decatur county and had engaged in the building on contracting fields. He was a member of Mt. Aerie Baptist church at Letts and was affiliated the Red Men's and Knights of Pythias lodges in Greensburg.
The survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Ira Wynn, Westport, Mrs.Nolan Skinner, Greensburg, Mrs Enza Rodenbeck,, New Castle And Mrs. Emma Posten, Richmond. Three sons, Raleigh Devine, Dayton Ohio,Earl Devine, New Albany, and Erbie Devine New Castle. 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Fox and Macer funeral home in New Castle. The Rev. Horman will officiate. Burial in the Mt. Aerie cemetery at Letts. where grave side service will be held.
