Theophilus W. Alsup, died August 25, 1930, in San Antonio Hospital at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 23 days. He was a farmer and married. He was a son of Joel Alsup and mother not stated. He was the husband of Alma Jackson Alsup. Informant: Mr. A. Alsup, Gonzales, TX

"FINAL TRIBUTE PAID MEMORY of T. W. Alsup
Many friends and relatives gathered Tuesday to pay their last tribute to the memory of an old citizen of Gonzales County for many years, and to a man of splendid werit and worth, when T. W. Alsup was laid to rest.
The impressive services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Wester, pastor of the Presbyterian church, at the home of Aubrey Alsup. Reverend Wester read John 14 and paid tribute to the one whom death had claimed. Two old hymns, " Asleep in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by a choir of sorrowing friends.
The pallbearers, Willie Alsup, Jr., Wilson Jackson, Overton Jackson, Wesley McFall, Arthur McFall, Hugh McFall, who are all nephews of the deceased, bore the casket to the hearse, which led the procession to the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers.
A wealth of flowers beautified the grave and made lovely his last resting place. Besides the wealth of flowers from friends and relatives, there were a number of special offerings. A handsome casket spray ------- employees of the post office, co-workers of his son, Aubrey Alsup and from the Legion Band of which Aubrey Alsup is also a member, and from the employees of the Southern Warehouse and Compress Co., of Galveston, of which W. L. Goff, his son-in-law is manager.
T. W. Alsup was born in Bastrop county, Nov. 27, 1863 and died in San Antonio August 25 at the age of 66 years. He united with the Methodist church at the age of 10 or 12, and was a faithful member throughout his life time. He moved to Gonzales County at the age of 18 and settled near Ottline, where he lived until about 18 years ago, when he moved to Austin and later to Bronte. He was a member of the I.O.O. F. Lodge.
He was married to Miss Alma Jackson on Dec. 16, 1885, and of this union nine children were born seven of whom are living.
Mr. Alsup is survived by his wife, a half brother, Pet McFall, Bastrop, a daughter, Mrs. W. L. Goff, Galveston, and ---------- Gonzales, Edwin of San Angelo, Rodney J. of Houston, Raymond of San Antonio, Joel of Mason, Byron of Roswell, New Mexico. He also leaves eight greatchildren.
Friends and relatives from out of town besides his seven children who attended the funeral were: Pet McFall, Bastrop; Mrs. Dan Davis and daughters and Miss Hazel Clinger, Austin; Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Goff, Sr., Kenedy; Mrs. Emil Schleyer, Mrs. Dora Caperton, Mr and Mrs. Alfred Goff, O. P. Schnabel, A. G. Janszen, Will Schnabel, Mike Huber, and Joe Schnabe, San Antonio; Mrs. Leora Holmes, Houston; William Voight, Seguion; Mrs. J. R. Crook, Martindale; Mrs. Chris Johnson, Yoakum, and others from Yoakum, Ottine, Slayden, Harwood and ----"
