The father of the famous author Norman Maclean, Rev. John Norman Maclean was the Rev. of Missoula's First Presbyterian Church and was later pastor at the Montana Presbyterian Synod in Helena. He and his family resided at 302 S. Fifth St. W in Missoula. He taught his son Norman to fly fish Presbyterian style and encouraged Norman to later write the autobiographical book, "A River Runs through it."
