Mildred L. "Sally" Abbott, 71, of Jonesboro, Arkansas died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at NEA Baptist Medical Center. She had lived in Jonesboro for two years, moving here from Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jonesboro and was a foster parent for nine years, for 73 children. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store for many years and worked in the deli/bakery business. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Abbott, one granddaughter, Amber, one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Darrell Abbott and wife Robin, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Billy Gene Abbott and wife Kimberly, Honolulu, Hawaii; Bobby Joe Abbott and wife Daphne, Jonesboro, Arkansas; one daughter, Sharon Loretta Watts and husband, Darrell; three brothers, Richard H. Anderson, Rossville Georgia; James Anderson, Ogletharpe, Georgia; Freddie Joe Anderson, Chattanooga, Tennessee; two grandsons, and six granddaughters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Davis-Smith Memorial Chapel in Hot Springs with Pastors Matt Smith and Greg Sanders officiating and Davis-Smith Funeral Home in charge of the Hot Springs arrangements with visitation from noon until service time on Saturday. Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery.
