GENEVA MAY KISSINGER DIED AT HOSPITAL

Four hours after she was admitted as a patient to the Good Samaritan hospital, Geneva May Kissinger, aged 10 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Kissinger, of 1820 Chestnut street, died Tuesday evening.

Death was caused by tetanus, which resulted from an accidentally self-inflicted wound In the right hand, by a blank pistol. The child was unaware of the presence of any
cartridges in the pistol when she picked it up in the yard at her home, on the evening of August 5, less than two weeks ago.

Members of her family stated that Geneva found the pistol lying in the yard, where one of six brothers placed it after returning to his home from a fishing trip. Geneva attempted to pull the trigger. The trigger slipped and the cartridge exploded. The powder severely burned her hand. It was not thought the wound would result fatally. She
received treatment for several days, and gradually her condition became worse. Tuesday she was admitted to the hospital. She was admitted shortly after 3 o'clock and died at 7:45 o'clock Tuesday evening.

Staff physicans at the Good Samaritan hospital put forth every effort to save the child's life. But due to the strong hold the malady had already gained she died before
an operation could be performed, it was learned at the hospital.

The child attended the fourth grade in the Pleasant Hill schools. She attained the passing grade last year and at the opening of the 1929-30 term she would have been
promoted to the fifth grade. She was popular among her school mates and children in her neighborhood.

Beside the parents, the following brothers and sisters survive: Brothers, Earl W., West Lebanon; Claude I., and Guy W., Lebanon; Luke H., Mark F., and Danver V., at home;
two sisters, Mrs. Helen Garrett, of Lebanon, and Mrs. Rosanna Granger, at home.
