Louisa was the 13 year old daughter of William and Sarah Brunst. One day while her parents were away from the farm, her life was taken from her by a cruel and cowardly act by the hired hand employed at the Brunst farm in New Hanover.
Her funeral was attended by thousands of people comprised of relatives, friends , and curious onlookers, filling the church to capacity.
Rev. J. J. Kline, in his eulogy of the young girl, stated that there "was no doubt there occured a struggle for purity and life" by little Louisa.
