Oliver Wilcox, Esquire was born June 26, 1773 in Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island, the seventh of eleven children born to The Reverend Isaiah and Sarah Nancy (Lewis) Wilcox.
On Oct. 15, 1798, he married Rubie Welles, daughter of Ephraim and Sarah (Gates)Welles, in Colchester, New London, Connecticut. They made their home in Westerly, Rhode Island and had four children together: Oliver Wells, Ephraim C, Benjamin Franklin, and Hannah L., who later married Charles Vars of Westerly.
